Delta de l'Ebre (Terres de l'Ebre)
The Ebro Delta is the largest wetland in Catalonia; this presque-isle joined to the mainland by a sandbar is reminiscent of a vast triangle surrounded by water. A place where the boundaries between the sky and land, land and water, freshwater and saltwater, cultivated fields and wild vegetation are blurred.
Facilities and observations
L`Encanyissada, which has a surface area of 1,192 hectares, is the delta`s largest lagoon. L`Encanyissada cycle path starts just opposite La Casa de Fusta. The first 900 metres form the self-guided interpretative trail of the lagoon. It offers nine information panels with details about the area and the trail ends at El Carreter bird hide. The slope between the cycle path and the panels has been levelled to make it wheelchair accessible.
